Our annual spring nature walk at Blueberry Mountain was held on Sunday, May 5th beginning at 10 a.m.  In addition to the spectacular view from the mountain top, participants were treated to a special presentation by the renowned philosopher and naturalist from the 1800s, ‘Henry David Thoreau’, who held a deeply felt conviction that “in wildness is the preservation of the world.”

NOTE:  The drive to Blueberry Mountain takes about 50 minutes from Perth and Almonte; 60 minutes from Carleton Place and 10 minutes longer from Arnprior.

The hike up Blueberry Mountain took about 40 minutes on a well marked, moderately-inclined, forested trail. For the last 5 minutes, the climb to the look-out was more steeply inclined requiring sturdy shoes or boots. The presentation at the look-out lasted about 30 minutes. Treats and coffee awaited hikers back near the registration area upon their return around 12:30. And a good time was had by all!
